The person reviewing this previously is obviously a moron. Please don't install any more components, you may dribble onto your computer and electrocute yourself, best concentrate on breathing, eh? This drive works as advertised, had it in for a few months now without incident, its fairly quiet but sounds quite shocking when its reading. I wouldn't expect it to last for ever but will probably do you well until BD re-writers with higher read speeds come down in price in a year or so. It's a drive so easy to install, came with screws, a copy of cyberlink power DVD 8 and a driver disk. No sata cable is included but considering it's an OEM product, you should be happy getting anything.

Great little drive, you can't go wrong at this price. Extremely unfair of the last reviewer to mark the drive down because he didn't read the specs! It doesn't say it writes, and it's not going to do something it doesn't say it does!!!

You cannot write to the drive in any format, Dabs do not say you can, but then again do not make it very clear you cannot. To upgrade to version 9 of the software will cost another $50, version 8 which is bundled with the drive is not compatible with Windows 7.
