This is a simply magic set of keys! Simple installation quick and easy.
Programmabale "G" keys are perfect & very easy to set up and program macros either in windows or in game, infact for almost any purpose.
LCD display works a treat with system info, also are downloads available form logitechs website.
A truly magic keyboard a must buy!

Backlit keys + lcd are really bright (and adjustable)
Thousands of user-created applets exist to display custom data on the lcd screen. WVS can even make the backlight flash in time to music from most media players :D
Basically buy it if you want an absolutely top-notch gaming keyboard.

The G15 is good.

Having used the previous generation G15 for about a year, I can say quite firmly that it is my favourite keyboard ever! Hence I'm ordering another one.
The keys are suited to mashing wildly in phrenetic Counterstrike matches or in any FPS.
The macros are great for AFKing through BGs in World of Warcraft and also for doing other less nefarious deeds.
The screen, which I mainly use for changing the song on Itunes with) functions great.
Apart from it's features the G15 keyboard has a strong moddin community behind it, forever designing new apps for the LCD screen such as for the gaming must, TeamSpeak.
Sure, it's expensive but its definately worth it if you want a top-notch gaming keyboard to match your top-notch gaming rig.

A case of 'horses for courses'?

This keyboard replaced my Saitek Eclipse II. The keys on the G15 are smaller (as is the lettering), and have a ‘clunky’ irritating sound and feel as well. It would have been helpful if the G keys were a different colour as well, as the number of times you will press one of them when typing is likely to annoy you – especially as the software seems unable to ‘remember’ when you disable them.
The ratings given may not be a totally fair reflection of this board as it seems to be one designed for dedicated gamers - although even they may become irritated by the keys!

Not sure about the previous

Please note as I don't have this keyboard yet i've rater it 3,3,3 to avoiding skewing results. Im not sure which keyboard you are talking about as I (and many people I know) have had the previous G15 (the blue one) and it is truely excellent, I hever had any problems with it at all. If you are having a problem with the 'hard wiring' I suspect you had/have a dodgy one. Also I'm not sure if the post is about this keyboard (the G15 2008) as at the time of your post they hadn't been released and dabs did not have any in stock. This i suspect is going to be another great G series device from logitech and I can't wait to get my hand on it. Only downside is it looks like it has less macro keys, but this will have reduced the footprint.

Very poor support for the lcd display, overall build quality for a £50 keyboard is poor and most importantly for a GAMING keyboard, the keys have too much deadzone (they can be depressed a surprising amount before any input is actually registered) This results in movement keys (those held down for long periods of time) occasionally cutting out as i lifted my finger a mm or two off the key. In addition the keyboard is hardwired in such a way that certain key combinations do not register. For example if you use the arrow keys to move in games, combining shift (walk in a lot of games) with forward and right is impossible. Repeated for emphasis: you cant walk forwards and right. It's not a bug, you just cant do it with this keyboard if you use the cursor keys. Overall: for a £10 keyboard some of the flaws would be unforgiveable but to charge £50 quid for it (and dabs is cheap! I've seen it for £70) is a JOKE not to mention the insult of calling it a gaming keyboard.
