Very useful software
Reviewed by Abbie Poole. Review Posted 01/02/2009

I didn't quite know what to expect with this but it was very easy to install, not unusual for Windows software, and the fact you can install on 3 pc's was excellent value, having 3 pc's. Two of my kids have their own pc's and are at senior school and this is ideal for older children to use. Presentation packages are excellent if take a little getting used to but gives a professional finish to their projects. Highly recommend and a great price too.

Office 2007 is the next generation - top marks!
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 04/05/2008

Whether for use by home, student or business user, it is an excellent product.

Presentation quality a lot better than earlier versions, and easy to use after a little familiarisation - it's quite different.

Excel has business analysis capabilities such as heatmaps on tables, KPIs, and full OLAP support for SQL Svr 05. Excel can now take 1 million rows of data.

Compatability mode exists preserving the integrity of files from earlier versions.

Although if you do some new great looking stuff in 2007, and then have to save files in a 97-2003 format, file sizes will increase a fair amount.

It is quite resource hungry, but it is a great product and a significant step forward from 2003.

I have only been using the 2007 products for 3-4 weeks, but no problems so far.

At the price, incredible value for money and highly recommended.

The trouble is, nobody is using 2007 yet! You have to save your files in 2003 document mode as nobody else can read 2007 docs. Also, I started a computer course at college and as well as none of the computers running on Vista, they obviously use Office 2003. I don't know whether it is just that people in this country are behind, or that nobody likes Office 2007.

Do you really need all this?
Reviewed by Mack. Review Posted 16/11/2007

The real question is, are you going to use all that Office 2007 has to offer. More than likely the answer to that one is going to be no. So why pay for what you don't use, especially when you can get a great office suite for FREE in OpenOffice. If you want to write reports, do the odd spreadsheet and watch Powerpoint presentations, OpenOffice is the best choice. You have nothing to lose do you and it has plenty of powerful features too. I'm not saying 2007 isn't good, but why pay nearly £100. Especially with a missing Outlook. If you don't like OpenOffice after trying it, by all means go and spend your money, but leave this as a second choice.

New and interesting
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 06/09/2007

Its very different from office 2003 in layout and how things are acessable, which takes a lot of getting used to. It also does not come with Outlook, which I didn't realise when buying which seems odd as its one of the most useful tools I as a student needed - luckily I had a copy elsewhere. Otherwise is good once you are used to it.

It's driving me crazy. The trouble with these things is that they're designed by kids who are playing. They like colours and buttons and clicking. The customer wants a clear, familiar working environment with recognisable terminology. We don't want to waste hours - and you will on 2007.

Office 2007

fogey, you should get yourself a decent editor such as xedit! It's out there you know.

Now, as to Office 2007. I don't know what MS are playing at, introducing yet another incompatible file format, not even compatible with their own non-standard file format.

As to features, do you really need them? Office 97 was fine for most people. And still is. XP/2002/2003 are also more feature rich than most people need.

And as for the user interface, or ribbon, it's terrible.
