Connected to router with 20M cable. Connected instantly. LED indicator to show the connection speed between the devices. Orange 10/100 Megabits per second. Green 1000MB a sec. Excellent for the price. No problems occurred so far. Would recommend for anyone who uses multimedia over the network and anyone who wants to expand a wired Ethernet network. Very happy with product.

Does the job well

Had a few of these and they have all been easy to use.
As most people have said, its just plug power cable and network cables in and away you go.
Not sure what the Virgin Media customer was doing wrong, but I've installed one of these for a friend on virgin media.

Simple to share a BT Home Hub connection
Reviewed by Gareth J M Saunders. Review Posted 02/12/2009
I've used Netgear switches, routers and wireless access points in the past when I had a 10 Mbps cable connection via Telewest Broadband a few years back and found them to be fast and reliable.
So when I realised that I needed a new switch to share my BT Home Hub connection (seriously BT, only 2 ethernet ports?) I didn't think twice about choosing Netgear.
Simplicity to use: plugged in the cable from the BT Home Hub to switch into port 1, cable from my PC into port 2, cable from my wife's PC into port 3. Switched on. Connected.
If only everything in life was that simple.

plug&play?

Bought device after nice reviews, yet find none of it applies to a Virgin Media connection. After 15 minutes still switching computers, switch and surfboard on and off in an attempt to get more than one device to connect to the internet let alone anything else...

Great device for home networking
Reviewed by Gary Streeter. Review Posted 15/11/2007
I use one of these switches to link 3 PCs to a BT Home Hub router/ADSL via a HomePlug network. Despite all the various components in this configuration it works a treat. The PCs can talk to each other directly without accessing the HomePlug network or hub and the internet is accessible to all devices. No configuration required out of the box. Great device, great value for the price.

Top class

So easy, just plug in and it works. The gigabit standard incorporates autosensing so you don't need a crossover cable to connect it to another switch or router, though it will still work if you use one. Great, fast, easy.

Easy to install, just follow the simple instructions and it took less than 5 minutes. I did use a 'cross-over' cable as my Broadband Rouer did not have an 'up-link' port.

For £30 i don't thinky you can do better!! Simple to set up (you just plug everything in, and away you go!!). Connected two PC's and a games console via two of these, connected them to the internet via broadband router, and worked straight away, didn't even have to configure anything!! Not had a single problem with it at all, and had them now for a good few months now. You won't go wrong with these if all you want is a simple home network. Awesome!!!

great for home use

Plug and play, very easy to use, and at this price point, great for a gigabit network at home. Can get warm when being used heavily.
Maybe best suited for average home use. Mine developed a fault after 15 months, started dropping lots of frames, resulting in performance worse than wireless and more comparable to old 10mbps hubs. Probably been pushing it too much - going for something bit more hefty to replace it, but can't fault this model much for how much it cost.
