This comprehensive and affordable solution offers wired, wireless connectivity with business-class protection for small office and remote/branch office users. It combines six functions in a single, compact package - Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) firewall, 802.11g wireless access point, IPSec Virtual Private Network (VPN), NAT router, an eight-port 10/100 fast Ethernet switch and built-in ADSL2+ modem support.
Easy and reliable, the DGFV338 delivers both 10 and 100 Mbps connections for wired devices, plus wireless support at both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz frequency at 54Mbps radio transmission with up to 108Mbps in both 802.11a and 802.11g (region specific).
More than just a simple NAT router, the ProSafe DGFV338 SPI firewall provides business-class protection, blocking unwanted users from accessing the network. Support for Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 Enterprise (WPA2) shields wireless communication with the highest available level of industry-standard encryption and authentication. Comprehensive controls block or filter unwanted addresses, services, protocols, and URLs, fortifying your network. Up to fifty simultaneous IPSec VPN connections protect links between business locations, encrypting all traffic as it traverses the Internet.
The DGFV338 is easy to set up and use, with NETGEAR's intuitive Smart Wizard a VPN Wizard that helps connect to your ISP and establish VPN connections. It delivers all the advantages of centralized administration for remote offices, teleworkers and small businesses, including dynamic DNS capabilities to facilitate remote access, cameras, games, and other hosted services for users with dynamic IP addresses. Providing support for ADSL2+, DGFV338 also supports an Ethernet WAN port for failover on non-ADSL connections.

Lots of features, improved reliability

We bought a lot of these for use at work. They were straightforward to configure (both using ADSL or Ethernet WAN) and extremely flexible.
The VPN features work well once you get your head round them. We've connected two routers together (using the VPN wizard), and also used the provided software to create a client -> router connection.
We had a few problems with reliability, but the new firmware updates seem to have sorted them. Make sure you upgrade the firmware from the Netgear website!

Great for one thing, not so for another

Initially I set this up as a straight replacement for my modem/router due to its features. This works really well and was incredibly easy to set up. Running trouble free for about 5 months. I then decided to take advantage of BT's business VOIP service, which is not able to run through this modem/router. According to Netgear's useless configuration instructions, this should be easy to set up. Not so, as it will not act as a simple wireless router sitting as a kind of switch/router behind my original BT router. So I have decided to get rid of both and upgrade to the BT 2700 router/wireless/VOIP. Thanks to BT for dishing that out free, not such a big thanks to Netgear as my day has nearly been a write-off trying to mess around with their router.
