Pleasantly suprised

I bought this to replace the ReadNAs duo which I couldn't get to work but was worried about how noisy it would be. Well I am in a tiny office with it very close by and I can barely hear it. Good performance (will get better when the other disks arrive!) and love having the lcd to tell me what could be wrong. Brilliant piece of kit.

I had a ReadyNAS NV+ and upgraded to the ReadyNAS NVX whichj is a 4-bay, hot-swappable, high-performance Network Attached RAID: the latest entry in Netgear’s growing business-centric line of storage products. Like the ReadyNAS Pro, the NVX is aimed more towards the small-to-medium sized business than to the consumer or power user, but that’s not to say that the uberGeek power like me didn't want one!

Vista and Win7 issues

I bought the 1TB NV+, it's fine when attached via wired Ethernet to a Win7 or Vista PC but have horrendous issues with getting the machine to serve files, browse and update folders when using laptops with wireless connections.
Turns out there are well known and long-standing issues with the Netgear NV+ and windows wireless connections, the only exception being when used with Windows XP!
I would return my nas in a flash if I could. Avoid.
