Great access point
Reviewed by Michael. Review Posted 27/08/2009
I bought this as a replacement for a Linksys access point that broke after several years. The wireless reception around the house is better than the older one, and the Access Point is very easy to set up - much easier than the instructions imply. Very pleased.

Nice Little WiFi Box
Reviewed by Ben. Review Posted 17/12/2007
This is a perfect little home WiFi AP, very easy to setup and supprisingly strong signal. Ignore that daft comment about WPA-PSK not working, I live in a large 18th century house with stone two foot thick internal walls and I have had no problems this. Would like to see WPA/2-Enterprise on the next revision, although I cannot knock it for the price.
If you already have an ADSL router/firewall, disable the WG602's DHCP server and connect to the existing router with one of the four LAN ports (not the WAN port).

Bullet Proof

I've had mine since they first came out and it worked straight from the box. No hassels after numerous installations (I'm in the IT department of my company and they have adopted this as the standard wireless access point). Not the fastest around (altough it handles streamed iTunes from a NAS with no probs) BUT easy to use, reliable and with a good range. Excellent and good value for money

Excellant as a Repeater
Reviewed by Adam. Review Posted 27/04/2006
I brought 2 of these to link 2 houses together which were in the same village.
I used them with 2 x 12dBi Yagi directional antenna's, 1 mounted on the tv aerial of each house pointed at each other.
I then used an extension cable (5 Meters) and converters to connect the antennas to the Netgear AP.
The signal strength is great and that's with it going from my house through the roof of a 18th century school building over a field, through some trees to my friends house (about 500 Meters away). Also when used as a bridge the Netgear AP can also be used as an access point, serving any wireless clients you have too.
Great product, well worth the money.

Best coverage
Reviewed by Dave Smith. Review Posted 26/02/2006
I've tested many 802.11g access points recently, up to and including v.expensive Cisco, and the WG602 has by far the best range of any of them. Gets thru walss and floors better than anything else I've seen including mimo devices. Can also be used as a repeater, point to point and multipoint bridge (may need firmware update from Netgear website). Simply the best buy, and at this price why look at anything else?

Good home AP
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 13/12/2005
Easy to set up, although you might need to do a bit of configuration (e.g. turn on the DHCP client if you have a DHCP host on the network). I get an "excellent" signal at the opposite corner of the house, through a floor and several solid walls.

Very please - Everything worked well and was straight forward when you could get the boxes internal DHCP turned off. This will be a problem for all those using this devices on a router network.

Excellent product
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 05/10/2003
I bought this product and was very impressed with it. Taking it out of the box, I merely plugged in everything I needed to plug in (as per the good instructions book), turned it on and voila! I had a wireless network. Turning on my laptop with its wireless lan card installed, the Internet access came straight through without any extra configuration and I could go anywhere in my home and still get a connection.

5 minute setup
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 23/04/2004
An excellent unit which can be setup without any hassles in less than 5 minutes.
The MAC address access control and the WEP 128 bit encryption worked first time with an existing 11g network card.
Only thing to watch out for is if you run DHCP on your network and put the unit straight on. It has a DHCP client enabled by default, so you can't get to it via the IP address shown in the instructions. Just connect it directly to your PC with the supplied cross-over cable and it's fine, then you can switch off DCHP if necessary.
Wee worth the money
