Excellent Product

Wonderfully easy set-up with every option you’re likely to need at home.
You’ll need to mount it vertically to dissipate the heat generated.

Compatability
Reviewed by Maestegtown. Review Posted 09/02/2009
Good value for money package with the bundled wirless-N usb adapter.
Have had compatability problems with my existing older 54mbps & 108mbps usb network adapters - some work (3com) some don't (LM technologys & Atheros).
Works well with netgears own wirless-N usb adapter (if running vista you will need to download driver from netgear website ony 2000/XP drivers bundled).
Big increase in speed of download approx. 80% increase from 54mbps 3COM router.
Coverage disappointing, live in large house - adjacent rooms to router 80%-100% coverage, areas upstairs and 2 - 3 rooms away drop to 30%-50% coverage.
Does anyone know of compatible economy wirless-N usb adapters that work with this router? the Netgear WN111 wireless-N adapter is currenty well overpriced.

Great wireless coverage!
Reviewed by . Review Posted 29/09/2008
Got this recently to go with a Netgear WN311T PCI wireless adapter for my desktop. Although this modem router is a couple of rooms away from where my PC is set up, the signal strength is at maximum and the throughput is blazing at 270Mbps! My wife's notebook also gets a good to excellent signal wherever she is in the house. This is a definite improvement over my previous modem router (Netgear DN834PN), which only sent a fair signal to the notebook in most areas of the house.

Good while it lasted
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 26/08/2009
Bought this 30th Nov 2008 all working fine until recently when the ethernet ports have started to fail. Performance was fine up until now, but I've had to revert to my old DGM824M router also by Netgear to get back on the internet again. DGN2000 appears to be dropping network packets. Would have expected more for a device less than a year old. Hopefully Netgear themselves can come up with an answer.

Started Off Rosey then went downhill
Reviewed by Dave. Review Posted 21/08/2010
I have had this unit for just over a year, sadly just out of its warranty I think as I can't remember exactly when I purchase it.
Started off all fine, dead easy to set up, wireless works a treat and I can hook my DS, PS3 and laptop up without any problems at all.
Now, in the last two weeks one of the PC's connected to the Ethernet ports lost its internet connection. My other computer connected the same way was fine so I thought it was a setting on the other computer gone haywire. As it happens it was not as the same problem with my main PC, no internet. The lights were flashing but nothing was going off. The wireless still worked fine though.
It seems looking at past reviews this is a common problem with this product and one that puts me off buying another one. Great fun while it lasted but this breaks down after a few months so I would chose something else.

Not a good start
Reviewed by Leigh. Review Posted 17/11/2009
I bought this because it had all of the features that I wanted to upgrade my network.
The set up screen is very easy to use etc but I couldn't seem to get clients connected. After a bit of fiddling around, clients finally managed to associate but were very slow. Upon pinging the gateway, I would get a few "Request timed out" messages interspersed with responses. This of course made the network unusable so I sent it back.

Good to begin but didn't last long

The DGN2000 was easy to install and as I'd used DG834 was familiar to set up and very similar software. Speed was improved on laptops and range considerably so. That was January. But come 3rd October and ethernet ports not working and no wireless either. All lights on but no-body at home. It's going back.

Unfit for purpose

Product setup is easy with wizard genuinely configuring things correctly first time. Netgear knowledge base also helps take you through common settings including network types and security.
Big problem is router runs hot, very hot. Has damaged the table it sits on and after 1 year has just burnt itself out with ethernet connections now not working. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM - see the forums, why haven't Netgear done anything about it. AVOID!!

Good then Rubbish (Rubbish Kit & Rubbish Support)
Reviewed by Disgruntled. Review Posted 20/10/2009
Bought in January, all good until 3 weeks ago when had EXACTLY the same issue as 2 previous reviews.
I have 4 PCs, 3 connected via ethernet & 1 via wireless, & another wireless access point also connected via ethernet.
Over space of 2 days lost all internet access via the ethernet ports (inc WAP).
All NetGear support can do is follow the script and end up with the line it's a problem with your PC ... what ALL four of them, plus WAP gone squiffy AT THE SAME TIME!
What compounds my frustration is that of the 5 reviews here, 3 have exactly same problem happening within a matter of weeks. This seems to be a common fault and all NetGear muppets can do is basic trouble shooting, followed by a sloping shoulder "you get an engineer to look at your PC".
Sorry Netgear, this is the 21st century and that is plain shoddy service.
Am going to return to shop this weekend - will be looking to voice my concerns about quality of the product and NetGear support.
