Great Drive, great price - but one little thing to be aware of...

This really is just plug and play at its very best.
Yes, in a few weeks or months this drive will seem small and perhaps even expensive but when I stuck my foot in and bought, it is great value for money.
Be aware though, that 1TB does not equal 1000GB this drive equates to 1,000,202,273,280 bytes (ie just over 1TB) but is actually only (well OK joking) only 931.5GB. Still factually it is 1TB, but don't be fooled into thinking its 1,000GB - you are short changed by 69GB!!

These will drive you mad

On the face of it these seem like a good deal - until you try to use them. Firstly the cases are all plastic, not metal, so do not act as heatsinks. This means that the underside has to have ventilation slots. This in turn means that these drives are noisy - very noisy compared to the metal-cased drives.
Secondly, and more annoyingly, these drives go to sleep. That's not a bad thing in itself as they are then quiet and save power. The problem is they often take up to a minute to wake up when the PC tries to access a file. A minute feels like an eternity when your PC is frozen waiting for a drive to spin up.
This annoys the hell out of me and I certainly won't be buying Seagate again.
