Read first about 3Tb

I know that I will sound very silly to everybody who knows about computers, but this comment is for those who know very little. 3Tb drives need a different protocol for formatting. If you follow the defaults when you install the 3Tb, you end up with 2Tb drive and some large unassigned space. Perhaps you can re-format, but in my case this was too late. Here is the story: "The drive has to be reformatted as a GPT-formatted drive instead of an MBR-formatted drive. The old standard MBR partition tables can't describe a drive of over about 2.13 TiB. You can convert only empty, unpartitioned disks (raw drives or empty MBR drives) to the GPT format."

Better twit then chirp! ;(

For those that are not aware of ongoing, long-time dragging "chirping" issue of Shee..gate disc. I'm one of those victims myself and only realised once I got them. LOL 2 devices. Both singing well. But that wasn't the purpose of having 2x3TB storage :(. FYI: The chirping sound is caused by disc heads being parked on random. I guess I could stand the sound at the end of the day but major let down is at some stage you will have the disc parked in a middle of r/w transaction and the only way to bring it up is to power cycle the disc. Unfortunately SG's efforts to eliminate this problem have been failure so far including most recent firmware CC4H. Obviously any requests towards SG online end up advising firmware upgrade. Don't be fooled. So If you're not big fan of a soprano coming out from within your machine you better have a piece of Caviar. Ta, ta. R.
