Sony improve on old format tape.

We have 10 of these tapes and 6 of them failed within the first 12 months.
Our previous drive, an AIT1 drive worked flawlessly for 3 years.
However, Sony have released a new AIT3 tape, the SDX3100CN which with its new coating should be far more reliable.
I would strongly recommend that you buy the newer AIT3 SDX3100CN tape instead of this one as it is nearly the same cost and promises better reliability.

We bought 36 of these tapes and have had nothing but intermittent problems with them. We get the full gamut of error messages as to why the backup couldn't be completed.
We will be trying the SDX3100CN version as soon as they have stock.
I would NOT recommend you buy this product at this time.
