Good buy

I got this to have a last look at my stack of 1Gb to 80Gb IDE drives before I bin them. I only wish that IDE drives had connectors like SATA drives. The gap between the power and data cables varies a lot so it is not just a straight plugin.
If it is just SATA, it is fairly neat. With IDE you need a lot more desk space because the disk has to lie flat next to the docking station.
For IDE, there is a fiddly keyed ribbon cable and a sometimes difficult to remove power cable. For the laptop IDE drives, the ribbon looks quite fragile but looks can be decieving. Would have been nice if the ribbon connectors had tabs for pulling them off and the power connectors were slightly longer so that there was more surface to grip and pull them off.
The unit comes with a power adapter and 3 kettle leads for UK, Europe and North America. Wonder why they don't build these units with an integrated power adapter. Maybe it is some PA testing requirement.

A disappointment

Basically it does not work. On Linux the disk is not readable and on Windows it does not appear in "my computer" despite being said to be available.
I was hoping to be able to read and possibly use the IDE disks hanging around, but it seems like a waste of money
