Do not buy this. I installed on an XP OS and it was all fine XP recognised it, then I plugged in my extrenal 80GB drive and the computer crashed. Then I updated the driver and it worked once. Then when wanted to use it 2nd time, As soon as I plug my external drive it crashes the computer. I tested my external drive on the my old USB port on the same computer and it was fine. I downloaded the latest driver from StarTech and updated the driver again but no change the PC crash as soon as you plug a device in the usb port. Stay a way from this.

Ordered Sunday evening. Arrived Tuesday lunchtime and installed shortly thereafter. No problems in operation, though Windows XP seems to have a problem in recognising installed drivers when booting up, but it works fine.

Does exactly what it says on the tin - installed it with ease, XP detected and installed the drivers no problem. No problems yet. Great product for little outlay.

this was easy to install,work straight away and if anyone did not no the internal usb are used for things like card readers as most conect to a usb

I plugged it in; it worked. What more could I ask for?!
The size of my graphics card also meant that I had to plug it in at a slight angle...and it still worked.
The two internal USB ports are a nice touch - although I can not think what I would use them for.

I was initially concerned the card wouldn't fit into my PCI slot because it did need a bit more force than I was expecting. However once in, XP detected it and it was up and working in no time. Oddly, my broadband modem keeps dropping out when plugged into a new port but is quite happy in its old USB 1.1 connection. All other devices much improved, well worth the tenner plus delivery.

As another reviewer has experienced, I too have had problems using this card with Windows XP (SP3). The card was working beautifully for the first week, then without warning it keeps crashing my computer. When I plug a USB device into one of the ports, it thinks about it then Windows does an emergency shutdown, while the old ports all work fine still. Have ordered a Belkin card now in the hope this doesn't happen.

Got this to go with my new external hard drive for my G4 mac. Unfortunately, it wouldn't mount anything, not even a memory stick. Of course, I only worked this out after weeks of being in contact with the various help centres.
Sending back, let's see if the replacement works, or whether they really aren't mac compatible.

Bought the card having read previous user reviews on this page. The wonky angle seems to be intrinsic to the design of the card: even with a skinny graphics card (or no neigbouring cards) the card sits in the PCI slot at an odd angle. Still, it plugs in and is recognized by Windows XP, but as a dysfunctional device in the device manager. It loads drivers but the device doesn't work. Uninstalling and re-installing it didn't work, nor did loading the included drivers (Ali PCI to USB). Will be sending it back.
