Very quiet drive
Reviewed by C Williams. Review Posted 29/08/2009

Upgraded from a 80GB drive to this 1TB drive. Used Western Digital free software [downloaded from WD website]. I was amazed how quickly the old drive was copied to new drive. Drive is very quiet. Note this is OEM - no instructions or cables, or fixing screws for that matter. But at this price you can't go wrong! Only downer was it shows total size as 931GB, which is 69GB less than the 1TB drive size. But I figure the drive will see out the computers days, so what the hell..Overall i'm very happy!

Good Drives
Reviewed by Bill. Review Posted 14/08/2009

Bought 2 of these Ran a RAID1 for a few days and the second drive started to fail, SMART data reported failed writes. RMAing that drive as i write this. Other drive running perfectly in my Netgear ReadyNas Duo. Just goes to show you always get dud drives, no matter what brand. I expect my replacement will work flawlessly :)

Failed
Reviewed by Paul. Review Posted 03/03/2010

Fitted in a server so was worked hard, but well cooled. Very quiet and seemed very cool to the touch. Started to show errors after less than six months. I have no idea how the manufacturers produce their MTBF figures, but I use enough drives to know these are total fiction.
Still I keep coming back to cheap drives because allegedly professional SCSI drives are no more reliable.

Hard drive failed after 9 months

Mine has just failed after 9 months of use, in a home PC. Others appear to have had the same problems. Not good at all.

Multiple failures
Reviewed by John. Review Posted 19/04/2010

Nice drive, but .....
I have purchased 4 of these drives for use in a home PC and have operated 2 of them in a RAID1 array. 3 of the drives have now failed after 4 months, 5 months and 7 days operation respectively. Thank goodness for that RAID array, it's the only thing keeping me operational!
