Great Drive
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 02/01/2010
You may be able to find more storage at a lower price, but this drive is quiet, reasonably cool and works great as a media drive or content store. Perhaps wouldn't recommend it for a system disk. Formatted size on NTFS came out at 1.81TB for me.

Price is always at this level for top end drives

Simon, top end hard drives always have price of £210+ GBP, you can't expect state of the art to cost you the same as mainsteam disks. It's value for money because (in our case) we don't need to buy another expensive server that will use cheaper disks, instead we will use more "expensive" disks but they work out great value because we keep using same server for longer. WDs 1.5 TB now out and they are excellent (we got plenty of those and they work well too - half price of 2 TB as well). The whole Western Digital Green line is superb - in 20 years I've never seen better hard drive.

So far very good impression

Bought 10 of those, used 4 so far and all seems well, even though there seems to be compatibility issue with Adaptec RAID controller - this apears the fault of Adaptec however, rather than WD.
It's not cheap for sure, however if you want to pack some serious storage these disks are the way to go.
