Excellent drive

To the guy below: the 8-pin port is not a power connector. This drive needs a 15-pin power cable, which plugs in right next to the SATA data cable. If you don't have one, then poke around for one - there should be ones you can get via a Molex connection.
I've put this drive inside a new computer I was putting together, along with an Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (review for that elsewhere), Sapphire Radeon HD 2600 XT, Corsair VX 550W PSU, and an Asus M2R32-MVP board. Seems like a pretty fast drive. The 16MB cache makes things easier to reach, and this amount is quite big compared to other computers I've used/owned. I'm really impressed with the performance, which is tempting me to buy another one of these soon. Western Digital ftw!

Hassle Free HD
Reviewed by RobbieS. Review Posted 30/04/2008
This is a good quality HD from a good manufacturer. Has been working without any problems for about 3 months now. Reliable data transfer and quick enough for me although I am sure you will be able to find HDs with quicker transfer rates out there if you look for them.

Wrong Again
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 01/01/2008
There is no such thing as SATA II !!! The term SATA II (or SATA2) has grown in popularity as the moniker for the SATA 3Gb/s data transfer rate, causing great confusion with customers because, quite simply, it’s a misnomer. The first step toward a better understanding of SATA is to know that SATA II is not the brand name for SATA’s 3Gb/s data transfer rate, but the name of the organization formed to author the SATA specifications. The group has since changed names, to the Serial ATA International Organization, or SATA-IO. The 3Gb/s capability is just one of many defined by the former SATA II committee, but because it is among the most prominent features, 3Gb/s has become synonymous with SATA II. Hence, the source of the confusion. Dabs correctly list their drives as SATA-150 or SATA-300 (1.5Gb/s or 3Gb/s respectively). The 3Gb/s interface speed models are backwards compatible with 1.5Gb/s but not the other way round.

Wrong
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 30/12/2007
The person who says Serial ATA and SATA are different is wrong. There are SATA 150 also known as (Serial ATA or SATA)and SATA 300 also known as (Serial ATA2 or SATA2) This drive is the later so you need a SATA2 compatible MB.

I started to build a new computer and decided i needed a cheaper hard drive after i had blown most of my money on the graphics card. i had a look around and found this bada boy. I have no regrets buying this one it was so worth while. it is super quick and my only regret is i did not buy more. the size is ample and so i have to mention that for the price its super quick.

My old Hitachi (Dell) serial ATA packed up very suddenly after only 3 years. I ordered this for price & performance & WOW! The 16 mb makes this very fast. I agree with the previous reviews. Getting a SATA connector & power adapter kit wasn't too much trouble but make sure your motherboard supports both Serial ATA & SATA. (I didn't know they were different). All in all a great Purchase.

Top quality service and goods!
Reviewed by David Green. Review Posted 22/09/2007
Really good drive - I ordered 4 of these for a RAID 0+1 array in my first self build and they went in clean as a whistle and up and running with no problems at all (other than trying to figure out how to set the array in the BIOS :) They are whisper quiet and fast; what more do you need. Be warned though they do come without any cableing or screws - just a top quality drive in a plain padded box - but then what more do you want for less than £50.00 a drive!
Amazing Service! Ordered them at 8.00pm on the Monday, expecting delivery on Wednesday, and they were delivered before 11.00am on the Tuesday. And that is on the standard next day delivery, not a gauranteed before midday or anything.
