Great drive for PS3 upgrade!

There are a lot of reviews already on here for this drive as an upgrade for the PS3, but I just wanted to add to all those positive opinions. I have one of the early PS3's with just 40gb storage and this finally ran out. I researched and saw all the good reviews for this drive and thought it was good value for money. Came in a couple of days, fitted in 5 mins (after backing up the PS3 first), and now I have plenty of free space and what seems like a faster PS3! Couldn't have been simpler, an excellent buy. Thank you Dabs!

Ordered Tues evening & arrived Thurs lunchtime. (Securely packaged) Also ordered Startech external enclosure to allow copying. (superb little housing!) Cloned using WD Acronis software and installed in Dell D530 laptop. Seems to be working fine.

Everyone else seems to be using this to upgrade their PS3. Just to let you know there are other uses for it!
I installed one in an Akasa P2 Series drive enclosure which makes for a very flexible, fast portable hard drive unit.

Bought this on Friday shipped on Monday arrived on Tuesday great service. Well packaged 1st time using dabs and wont be the last. Bought it to upgrade my 40gb PS3 easy to install very fast and had no problems with installing the firmware just backed up all my files onto external HDD and worked perfectly now my ps3 has over 298gb to play with :D 5 stars.

Great service from dabs.com product arrived fast and was really well packed.I had read a few post regarding the upgrade of the ps3, and also seen a few videos showing how simple it is to do. Only five screws to be removed then replaced, turn my ps3 on it asked if i would like to format my hard drive i pushed yes and and two minutes later it was done. i had read about downloading the latest update from sony but it turned out i did not need to as it started up fine after the formatting was done. I'm now sitting with 298GB. If i can do it anyone can honestly it was a very simple task. cheers

As mentioned by others this is a fantastic product, I bought one to upgrade my 40gb PS3, and it is very easy to install. I ordered it on Sunday afternoon, and it arrived at 10.00 Tuesday morning. One thing to note as mentioned before if you are upgrading your PS3 you must have the latest firmware update ready on USB memory stick or removable Hard drive. Installing the new drive into the PS3 didn't bring up any "reformat drive" options, until I downloaded the 2.43 firmware available from the sony website and put file in folder
PS3\UPDATE\(firmwarefile)
Of your storage device hd or memcard. once formatted total size of disk will be 298GB But Overall Great Value. 5 STARS all round.

I bought this to replace my PS3 40gig one. I can confirm this drive is compatible with the PS3 as it has a standard layout on the power and SATA connectors. One thing to note if you are upgrading your PS3; have the latest firmware update ready on USB memory stick or removable HD. All the upgrade guides omit this information. Installing the new drive into the PS3 didn't bring up any "reformat drive" options, until I had the 2.41 firmware available via USB memstick.

really quiet, it runs normally at about 32 / 33 degrees centigrade which is about 1 degree above my old seagate hard drive. plan on getting another to replace the one in my ps3. very good product and at a decent price as well.
