This drive gets the balance between functionality and style just right. On one hand, the USB 3.0 and good read/write speeds, and on the other hand - the brushed aluminum casing, which actually also helps to cool the unit down. The data is encrypted and password protected. It's very useful for storing backups, just what I needed.
This is a nice drive. Comes with all necessary software and cables. Worked great as a backup unit and a file server. I'm going to use it as my media library, too - got it plugged into the router, so I can stream files directly from it. The speeds are good.
I got this drive almost a year ago, and I'm very pleased with its performance and speed. I use it for the auto backup of my system daily, and it works magnificently. The included software and free cloud storage space on Wuala was a nice bonus. Excellent value for money, overall.
I bought this drive about a year ago, and thus far I've not been disappointed. It's great in terms of performance, the design is nice, and it's very simple to use. The USB 3.0 is plenty fast, and there's lots of room for all my files.

This is a great looking and hard working desktop drive. The 5mm aluminium enclosure does a fabulous job of protecting the drive and keeping it cool and quiet. All in all, I am very impressed and glad to have a safe place to store all my backups.
I did heaps of research before purchasing this drive and finally decided to buy this one. It's a simple yet well designed and top quality unit that works brilliantly. The transfer speeds via the USB 3.0 are excellent.
This is not my first LaCie drive, and very likely it's not going to be my last one. The design and the build quality of this model are impressive. It worked right out of the box. I like the speed with USB 3.0, and the fact that the drive is very quiet.
I regularly backup my key files and this drive is perfect for my needs. It has the right amount of storage and an excellent design. I use it with USB 2. Everything works great.
